When it comes to custom labels we have seen a big shift in
the last few years to more and more labels being produced on our digital press.
We feel the following industry changes are responsible for
this…
- Many company logo’s and graphics are now designed first and foremost for the web. With an infinite palette to chose from, little thought is given to how elements will transfer to print. We continue to get more and more enquiries for custom labels that are to be produced in full colour
- Finer segmentation. A full colour process ran on the flexo required 4 printing plates (aprox £ 200 total). This leaves little room for multiple designs or ideas. The digital process allows a significant number of variants to be printed at the same time – with no printing plate requirement.
- Home working. With continued economic uncertainty and downturn, more people are looking for additional income. Home businesses make products in smaller volumes lending to a requirement for high quality custom labels, but in low runs.
